Switzerland to lift Fukushima disaster import curbs on Japan foods - Kyodo News Plus

Switzerland plans to lift import restrictions on food products from parts of Japan affected by the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster on August 15th. The decision follows the European Union's move to remove controls requiring radiation tests on agricultural and fishery products from 10 prefectures, including Fukushima, starting Thursday. With Switzerland and the EU dropping these measures, the number of countries and regions imposing import restrictions on Japanese food products will be reduced to 10. China and Hong Kong, however, continue to maintain import restrictions and have intensified radiation inspections on seafood imports from Japan ahead of the planned release of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima plant into the sea.
