A European research project led by Finland's Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) has enhanced the reliability of radiation measurements in medical X-ray imaging, aiming to improve patient safety. The TraMeXI project, funded by the European Union, gathered 11 metrology departments and three hospitals from 11 countries to establish better calibration services for X-ray measurements. This initiative is set to optimize radiation doses during imaging procedures, thereby improving accuracy and supporting hospital quality assurance. Additionally, Finland participated in the review meeting of the Convention on Nuclear Safety in Vienna, confirming it meets the convention's targets. Lastly, a national program to combat skin cancer, which affects over 14,000 people annually in Finland, was announced for 2026-2030, emphasizing the need for better sun protection measures.
