South Korea has started "emergency radiation tests" on seawater at 108 maritime points around the Korean Peninsula in response to Japan's planned release of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant. The tests will be carried out two or three times per month at each spot using a rapid analysis method, with results expected in four days. Japan's plan to release the water has been deemed consistent with safety standards by the International Atomic Energy Agency. South Korean fishermen have protested against the plan.
