Researchers at the University of Calgary are introducing a non-invasive screening technique called CETO, aimed at diagnosing and locating adrenal gland tumors. Dr. Gregory Kline and Dr. Alex Leung, principal investigators of the project, received funding for a Phase II trial to assess the CETO technique's effectiveness compared to the traditional adrenal vein sampling method. The CETO method involves using a short-lived compound that targets tumors, emitting a radioactive signal for imaging. A successful initial scan took place in late 2024, supported by a grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, which will fund the trial over the next three years. Furthermore, a validation study for the Mira Hormone Monitor device has been announced, aiming to provide detailed hormone profiles for individuals.
