Regulator repeals Breedon's nuclear ban - Construction News

Breedon, a materials giant, has been given the all-clear by regulators after previously breaking nuclear safety rules. The company had been banned from transporting radioactive materials after failing to conduct a proper risk assessment for the transportation of a nuclear density gauge at its facility in Scotland. The breach did not cause harm but created "unmanaged risks" that required regulatory action. Breedon has now regained regulatory approval by disposing of the instrument. The company is also working on a carbon capture initiative in the Peak District and recently received government funding for investigating carbon capture and storage in its cement production.
