As of March 30, 2026, the total number of FDA-cleared AI algorithms has reached 1,524, with 1,163 specifically for radiology, making up 76.31% of the total. This marks an increase of 68 new radiology algorithms cleared in just the first quarter of 2026. The FDA is currently approving around 30 AI algorithms each month, a rise from an average of 21 per month in 2024. The annual Radiology Society of North America (RSNA) meeting has effectively become a major hub for AI discussions in medicine, with a significant portion of its expo floor dedicated to AI vendors. The updated list of cleared AI products includes various novel technologies and enhancements across different medical imaging systems.
