The Korean medicine community is making strides towards gaining authorization to use X-rays following the proposal of an amendment to the Medical Service Act. The amendment would allow Korean medicine practitioners to be recognized as responsible managers for diagnostic radiation devices. To support this transition, the Association of Korean Medicine (AKOM) is conducting training sessions on radiation safety management, with over 100 practitioners already registered for the upcoming course in Seoul. This initiative is aimed at laying the groundwork for these practitioners to legally use diagnostic equipment, which has traditionally been restricted. Despite concerns from the Korean Medical Association, who are organizing protests and meetings in opposition, AKOM is committed to ensuring safety standards in diagnostic practices.
