Nearly 100% of patients surveyed say they’d want to know when AI is used in imaging - Radiology Business

A new study from Ireland highlights that nearly 100% of surveyed patients want to be informed when artificial intelligence (AI) is utilized in medical imaging. Published in the journal Radiology, the research involved over 1,000 patients, showing that 96% believe patients should know about AI's role in image reporting. Of those, 53% preferred written consent for its use. The study underscores the need for transparency, as many respondents felt both the doctor and the AI should be accountable for incorrect results. Researchers noted limitations in the study and called for further investigation into patient attitudes regarding AI in medical settings.
