Oleh Korikov, Chairman of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, condemned the conditions at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), currently controlled by Russian forces. He stated that the lack of emergency response, qualified personnel, and essential monitoring systems poses a severe risk. Korikov warned that any attempts to restart operations at ZNPP should be viewed as "nuclear terror" that could lead to catastrophic consequences worldwide. He criticized the Russian military for militarizing the plant and obstructing the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from conducting its mission effectively. Korikov urged international partners to pressure Russia politically and economically, citing recent challenges, including the blockage of IAEA expert rotation and a drone strike on the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant Shelter.
