The OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (Comstech) is hosting a two-day international workshop on "Advances in Nuclear Medicine and its Applications" in collaboration with the Pakistan Nuclear Society (PNS) and Pakistan Society of Nuclear Medicine (PSNM). The workshop, which will take place from September 19-20, will feature lectures from international and local experts in nuclear medicine, as well as research presentations from local faculty and researchers. The event will be attended by clinical practitioners, oncologists, researchers, and students in nuclear medicine and medical technology. The workshop aims to highlight the role of nuclear medicine in transforming the health sector, particularly in the field of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for non-communicable diseases. One of the focal points of the workshop will be the importance of hybrid imaging, especially PET-CT, in the management of cancer patients. The event will also discuss the emerging role of advanced radionuclide therapies using alpha and beta emitters in cancer treatment. The organizing committee of the workshop includes members from Comstech, PNS, and PSNM, as well as various experts in the field of nuclear medicine.
