Qatar is focusing on using nuclear applications in areas such as food production, agriculture, human health, and environmental protection. Grossi acknowledged Qatar's financial contributions to the agency, including funding for the renovation of the agency's laboratories and support for its technical cooperation program. Qatar has also signed the IAEA's convention on nuclear safety and has collaborated on projects in nuclear research. The country has been working towards preventing nuclear proliferation and supporting member states in utilizing nuclear technologies for development and progress. Qatar has called on Israel to join the Middle Eastern Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons to help contain the global spread of nuclear weapons. However, Israel, which possesses nuclear weapons, has not joined the treaty and refuses inspections of its facilities.
