IAEA Trains Asia-Pacific Radiation Protection Leaders - Mirage News

Twenty-five radiation protection professionals from Asia and the Pacific have graduated from a six-month training program organized by the IAEA in Malaysia, aimed at enhancing radiation safety infrastructure in the region. The program, known as the Postgraduate Educational Course in Radiation Protection and the Safety of Radiation Sources (PGEC), provided participants with specialized knowledge and skills to strengthen their national regulatory frameworks in line with IAEA safety standards. The course included practical experiences at medical and industrial facilities, and participants worked on projects addressing radiation safety issues in their home countries. The Malaysian Nuclear Agency hosted the course, which has trained over 450 professionals since its inception. Over 2,200 individuals across four regions have completed the PGEC to date.
