Three major nuclear medicine organizations—SNMMI Clinical Trials Network, Australasian Radiopharmaceutical Trials Network, and the European Association of Nuclear Medicine—have signed a memorandum to establish a unified accreditation framework for PET/CT and PET/MR scanners. This initiative, aimed at standardizing quantitative PET imaging globally, will enhance clinical trial efficiency, reduce duplicate testing, and improve data reliability. The new framework introduces a contrast recovery coefficient (CRC)-based system to replace existing methods, promoting scalability and adaptability in technology. The full transition to this accreditation is expected to be completed by January 2026, paving the way for consistent and trusted data from accredited scanners worldwide.
