El Salvador opens first dosimetry standards lab - Nuclear Engineering International

El Salvador has inaugurated its first Secondary Standards Dosimetry Laboratory (SSDL) with support from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This facility aims to enhance the country's radiation protection framework by providing calibration services for radiation measuring instruments used in medical, industrial, and research applications. The establishment of the lab follows eight years of collaboration with the IAEA to strengthen radiation safety and measurement accuracy in the nation. The new laboratory is expected to enable El Salvador to consider joining the IAEA/WHO global SSDL network, facilitating access to international dosimetry standards and best practices.
