Dr Danish on the Potential for Treatment with SCINTIX Radiation ... - OncLive

Dr. Adnan F. Danish, a radiation oncologist, discusses the potential of SCINTIX radiation technology to provide new treatment opportunities for cancer patients. The FDA recently granted clearance for SCINTIX biology-guided radiotherapy for lung and bone tumors, in addition to its prior clearance for other solid tumors. Previously, patients with up to stage IV cancer and multiple disease sites who received ablative therapy alongside systemic therapy had better chances of survival. However, this benefit was not seen in patients with disease involving more than 5 sites. SCINTIX radiation technology, which uses PET to guide radiation, may be able to treat more patients with polymetastatic disease. Researchers are also exploring combinations of radiation therapy with targeted therapies and hope to use ablative therapy for patients with stage IV disease. Current technology limitations hinder research efforts in this area.
