China has established a comprehensive regulatory framework to ensure the safety and quality of its nuclear power plants, as stated by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. The framework includes rigorous oversight from site selection to decommissioning, with all new nuclear units utilizing advanced safety technologies. Additionally, strict qualification reviews for plant personnel and continuous on-site supervision are in place. China also enforces strict regulations on radioactive waste management, ensuring that low-level waste is appropriately handled and monitored. The ministry is exploring advanced waste disposal technologies and has initiated feasibility studies for commercial nuclear waste reprocessing. Currently, China operates 58 nuclear units, with plans for more, aiming to become the top global atomic power producer.
