CT faces shortage of radiologists and medical specialists - WSHU

A Connecticut state task force is exploring solutions to address a shortage of radiology, respiratory, and nuclear medicine technologists. Matthew Green, a nurse manager, emphasized the need for increased awareness of the profession and recommended initiatives like job fairs and partnerships between healthcare employers and educational institutions to create career pathways. Quinnipiac University professor Bernadette Mele highlighted the challenge of having sufficient students interested in the field but lacking enough trainers for them. She advocated for state scholarships, loan forgiveness programs, reduced licensing fees, and higher starting salaries to attract more individuals. The task force is expected to report its findings to the state's Public Health Committee by January 1, 2025.
