Dr. Breona McQueen, a 27-year-old medical physicist from Los Angeles, is breaking barriers in her field, where Black representation is minimal. With a Ph.D. from UCLA and a residency at USC’s Keck School of Medicine, she is motivated by a passion for radiation therapy and cancer treatment, influenced by her grandmother's cancer survival. Despite facing challenges such as microaggressions and skepticism from faculty, McQueen excels in her studies and is dedicated to promoting diversity in STEM. She also emphasizes the need for better recognition of women's health issues in medicine and seeks to inspire young Black girls to pursue careers in scientific fields.
