Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has emphasized Bangladesh's commitment to non-proliferation and the peaceful use of nuclear science during a meeting with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi. He reiterated Bangladesh's dedication to nuclear disarmament and the safety and security of nuclear materials. The Minister highlighted Bangladesh's plans to incorporate nuclear energy into its future energy mix due to its environmentally friendly nature and pledged to maintain transparency, safety, and security in its nuclear power plants. He also expressed gratitude to the IAEA for its technical support in the fields of nuclear agriculture, medicine, and radiotherapy. The IAEA chief expressed interest in collaborating with Bangladesh under the 'Atom for Food' initiative and congratulated Bangladesh on its nuclear power plant development. The Minister invited the IAEA chief to visit Bangladesh during the commissioning of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project.
