BAMC adds dedicated nurse navigator in Nuclear Medicine Clinic - United States Army

The Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in Texas has enhanced its Nuclear Medicine Clinic by adding a nurse navigator, Samantha Green, to assist patients and healthcare teams with specialized treatments. Green, a registered nurse with experience in inpatient nuclear medicine, will focus on patient education and managing treatment plans as part of a theranostic cancer treatment program. The field of nuclear medicine is evolving, with an increasing emphasis on combining diagnostic imaging with targeted therapies, particularly for cancer treatment. Army Col. Nathan McWhorter noted that this shift signifies a transformation from solely diagnostic services to integrated diagnostic and treatment options. Green's role will allow more treatments to be conducted in the outpatient clinic, improving efficiency and patient care. McWhorter expressed hope that BAMC's model can serve as a blueprint for other military treatment facilities within the Defense Health Agency.
