Airbus has issued an urgent Alert Operators Transmission (AOT) to all global operators of A320 Family aircraft, following the discovery of a critical vulnerability that could affect flight-control systems due to intense solar radiation. A recent incident highlighted that extreme solar activity could corrupt essential flight data, prompting Airbus to recommend immediate software and hardware protections. This AOT will soon be formalized through an Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD) from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which will legally require operators to implement corrective actions before aircraft can resume commercial service. Airbus acknowledged potential operational disruptions, including flight delays and aircraft groundings, but emphasized that safety is their top priority. Airlines are now preparing to assess and implement necessary modifications. Further details are expected from EASA in the coming days.
