The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) has launched the application process for a new credential, the Imaging Assistant, Magnetic Resonance, I.A.(MR)(ARRT), aimed at addressing staffing needs in MRI departments. This credential, introduced in 2025, allows candidates to log their certification requirements to support MRI techs in patient safety and workflow efficiency, particularly important with the complexity of MR examinations. The initial exam window for candidates will be from October 15 to November 30, 2026. ARRT officials noted that the development of this role is a response to the growing demand for trained support in healthcare imaging environments.
