(LEAD) S. Korea to intensify radiation tests on seawater amid ... - Yonhap News Agency

South Korea plans to double the number of maritime spots under emergency radiation tests in response to Japan's plan to release contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant. Last month, South Korea began conducting radiation tests on ocean water at 92 points and will add 108 more coastal spots for monitoring. The samples will be taken from various areas, including the seas to the east, west, and south of South Korea, as well as waters off the resort city of Jeju. South Korea will use a "rapid analysis method" to get the results within four days, instead of the usual two months. Additionally, recent radiation tests found that waters at the country's 20 major beaches are safe.
